Interfaith Ministries Homeless Shelter Now Open For Pets

Dr. Christen Skaer has had a dream for many years that involves helping homeless people find shelter with their animals.

Well, Tuesday, October 18th 2018, that dream came true.

Working with Inter-faith Ministries, Dr. Skaer has set up a program to allow homeless people to seek shelter with their animals. So, someone down on their luck who needs shelter can now stay at our Inter-faith Inn AND bring their animals. This program has long been needed and is such a boost to the people served.

Working with 8 other vets in town, and numerous volunteers, we provide vaccines and basic wellness care to pets. We set them up to be as cozy as possible.

We couldn't do this without our veterinary partners and volunteers, and the staff of Interfaith. And funding. Thanks to Merial for donating vaccines! If you're interested in donating, we've included the address and website below. Just note "pet project" in the donation line or memo.

We are thrilled for our community, we've met some amazing people, and we've had a blast along the way!
